Invisalign isn't aligning my teeth properly. Why is that?

Straightening your teeth requires a lot of time, effort and money. Patients need to monitor their teeth's movement regularly. It is not surprising that Invisalign patients complain that their treatment plan doesn't follow. It can be frustrating when your Invisalign does not track. We can help patients get on track with extra effort and focus. This blog will discuss five reasons why your Invisalign is not tracking as you expected. I also explain what you can do to fix it.

What's Clear Aligner tracking?

Let's review Invisalignand "teeth monitoring" before we get into the tips. This will help you better understand what I am talking about. Tracking allows you to track how your teeth are doing in relation to your treatment plan. We cannot fix your teeth immediately, but we can teach your teeth to move slowly and steady. This gradual process of moving, training, and moving again with each set of trays will ensure that you have beautiful smiles. An orthodontist will design your treatment plan using sophisticated software. The software creates an exact representation of your teeth's shape, size and position. It then shows you how they will move in new positions. If Invisalign fails, we can correct it mid-treatment and after. This will make sure that your smile is flawless. So why is your tooth not tracking properly? These are five reasons that we will be discussing in this blog. If you have concerns about your progress, contact your provider or your orthodontist.

Individual differences are preventing my Invisalign from tracking.

Our computer models can simulate thousands of scenarios to help you create your treatment plan. These models can be used to help you design your treatment plan. However, they cannot account for every patient's unique response to orthodontic treatment. It's clear that some teeth are more stubborn then others. This is why Invisalign provider fails to work. Braces can make it difficult to move your lateral incisors (smaller teeth next to your front teeth). To draw their attention, your provider may place Invisalign attachments onto stubborn teeth in order to encourage them to follow the plan. Rubber bands can be attached to the buttons to increase the force required to move your teeth.

Invisalign does not track because your teeth are colliding in treatment

You have probably been on public transport in rush hour. Large crowds may find it difficult to squeeze through an opening door. After much bumping, grinding, and shuffling, people eventually board the train. They will not board the train until they have had an opportunity to get to know one another. Invisible braces can cause the same crowding effect but on a smaller scale. Inter-proximal is when two teeth collide. These procedures can be done in your office, where your orthodontist will reshape your teeth to prevent collisions. But don't worry! IPR is a safe and effective way to give your teeth more room so that they can be straightened.

Why is my Invisalign not tracking? You don't wear 22 hours per day

Many patients struggle to adhere to the recommended 22 hour hours of Invisalign or other home clear aligner companies. It is difficult to find 22 hours per day to wear invisible braces. Ironically, Invisalign can make your teeth crooked even if you are able to take out the trays in two hours. This allows for mid-course corrections and refinements.

Smart-phone apps are a great option. They will reduce the risk of removing your tray, and help you reach the 22 hour mark. It keeps track of your smile journey. It can limit the number of trays that are allowed out and tracks how long you don't wear them. A complete solution is also available. This smart retainer case can be used to track your daily wear.

My Invisalign doesn't track because you aren't doing your chewing exercises

Aligners can be used to guide your teeth into new positions. When the trays are seated, your teeth are "pushed" into new positions. This gives you additional force to move your tooth. It's a game of numbers. Your teeth get more prominent every time you swallow. Also, your trays get tighter. Every time you clench your tooth out of stress or determination, your trays become tighter. However, chewing and swallowing force is only applied to your molars. It does not apply to the front teeth. Take a deep breath and swallow. Feel the pressure in your stomach?

The following are chewing exercises that Invisalign professionals recommend to use pressure on your front teeth. They should be done at least three to five times per day, for between 3-5 and 3-5 minutes each. I recommend that patients focus on their front six teeth which are not getting the same natural sitting as their molars. To help your teeth move better, you can also practice chewing exercises. First, you can use a chewie. These tiny foam tubes can be used to repeatedly bite into the aligners. They aren't very appealing in public, though they do the job. Apply gentle pressure to align your aligners. This will allow you to get the results that you desire and keep you in compliance with your provider.

Invisalign doesn't track because my trays are gross and I don’t want them to be

If you don't wear yours when they are needed, they won't move your tooth. They won't be worn if they are stained or gross. Patients are conscious about keeping their Invisalign braces clean. Clear trays can reduce the chance of developing cavities and prevent your breath from becoming stale. Clear trays are easier to see and less likely to be stained by eggshells or ecru. Clear aligners can be kept clean and visible by reading our entire blog. We want to highlight one thing that will prevent tracking problems. This will decrease the tensile strength and eventually cause them warp. Even though it may not seem so, even tiny, imperceptible changes could cause everything to spiral out of control.

Stay positive!

The smile journey is an adventure. Even with the best technology and 3D printed trays, there are always problems.
